Just finished Liz's pages and have the flat rate box ready to mail to Teri in NY for completion and then on to Oregon. These were fun pages with a special item (the pre-WWII beaded applique).

Milena and I went to a park yesterday after her school; here are two photos from the Mouth of the Kenai River. It was such a beautiful day. We picked up a couple of "libations" - she, white chocolate chocolate and I a decaf latte, respectively, LOL. Today we will have an "overnighter." Looking forward to some fun time.

MOTHER'S DAY ROSE

Playing around with my "Olloclip" SnapOn Lens for my iPhone4 (works with iPhone4 and 4S). Will want to make a decision in June if I wish to purchase the 4S or wait until Fall for the new iPhone! It will depend on the camera mgp, since I enjoy taking photos with the phone.

These were fun to work with - the Olloclip has fisheye, macro, and wide-angle lens.

Am trying a new BLACK AND WHITE class with Tracey Clark - and, it is going well. Two photos are shown below.

AND, totally far behind with Deryn Mentock's ART OF CLOSURE class, but still have a couple of items I have ordered that have not arrived. So, plan to play this summer making gifts.

Women's ACTS Retreat

Have been a bit "under-the-weather" with a kidney infection; am just now feeling spiffy enough to sit at the computer longer than my three-day work week requirements.

Had an absolutely fabulous time at a Women's ACTS Retreat through Our Lady of Perpetual Help - it was an improptu registration because another had to drop out. I am so glad that I was able to attend - met wonderful spirit filled women from several denominations - beautiful experience.

Snow Geese

We are blessed to see the Snow Geese migrate. This spring across the Kenai Flats is no exception. I drove to/from work for 30 years via this route and always enjoyed the changing view with beautiful Cook Inlet and Mt. Redoubt, animals and birds, flora and fauna.

PAF "New Life"

PAF challenge this week "is to portray any piece of photo art that reflects 'new life.'" Last Saturday friend Judi took me on a drive to see beautiful cacti budding flowers in Sun City, Arizona - I so enjoyed the morning time with her and viewing a heron nest with babes. These are four photos from the adventure.

The heron nests were quite far away and of course I didn't pack my Panasonic zoom 35-420; you can see how far away the tree is, but I stepped a wee bit closer to get a snap of the "babes" with my point and shoot Sony with the Carl Zeiss lens.

Every Path

Photo Art Friday challenge this week is: "Share a piece of photo art that somehow features a quotation that you hold 'dear' - a quotation that has proved meaningful or significant in your life. Share how or why if you like."

This quotation is on an inexpensive plaque that my Mother hung in her home and I always recall our visits, her advice, and her love when I see or hear the quote. The photo rather depicts the "feel" of coming to a puddle in life, being fearful of facing and/or making the crossing, and then seeing the beautiful end of the journey or challenge for what the path has taught you.

My mother's passing was such a "puddle." I am so blessed and thankful for the memory.

Easter Day

What a beautiful Easter Day; had a lovely noon meal with my dear friend Edna. The photos depict my morning fresh juice made with my Omega "auger-style" juicer - apple, orange, and ginger. It works great and is truly a dream for clean up. Edna arrived about 1130am and we visited while I finished the deviled eggs. We ate a nice piece of classic grilled tilapia, 1/3 yam, kale salad, and a deviled egg. Light, tasty, simple and delicious.

Now I can't forget the gorgeous bouquet of hydrangeas Edna gifted me knowing full well that I would have the cameras out in no time. The juicing, meal, and photo of Edna were taken with my iPhone4, thus a little grainy. But, of course, I brought out the Panasonic for the flowers.

At 430pm I drove to the theatre and saw "Mirror, Mirror" - relaxed and enjoyed.

Today I went on a couple errands with friend Jaci; one was to a vehicle service company for a brake light fix on her 4x4. There were tulips in a basket on the counter. Soooooo - I took the basket to the only clear wall space which was the bathroom to take a couple of photos.

Artistically enhancing a few of my photos from Palm Springs. This is one from 1000 Palms, obviously (smiles) looking up from below to the sky. Amazing natural textures. Had fun changing it up - though it was also beautiful on its own. I used Bonnie's "one life" texture at 92% difference; otherwise, all remains the same. Thanks for stopping by. Karen

LB Australia Update

Suzy just completed her two pages for my lacebook; and, "WOW" are they beautiful, so rich in lovely special fabric and lace; the texture is amazing. Gorgeous additional touches of ephemera. All of Suzy's technique and flair are definitely apparent - she is a gifted artist.

We wrote back and forth on Email and discovered that Suzy has Skype - thus proceeded my "reinstating" the app on my iPhone4 and a conversation began. Isn't it amazing to be able to say "Thank You" in person/video between Alaska and Australia? Technology is great!
